President's Message

Dear Houston Chapter Appraisal Institute Members:

I would like to thank you for the opportunity of serving as the Appraisal Institute’s Houston Chapter President for 2011.  The confidence you have in me and the 2011 Board members is an honor and we plan to continue to promote the Houston Chapter’s place as one of the preeminent Chapter’s in the Appraisal Institute.  We have an exciting and busy year planned for 2011.

The “2010 Passport to Success” was the foremost initiative of its kind within the Appraisal Institute.  Many thanks go out to the 2010 AI Houston Chapter leadership for developing this program.  Building on the success of this program, we are going to roll out the 2011 Passport to Success on our local website, www.aihouston.com on January 3, 2011.

Our 2011 calendar and course schedule is located on our website.  This year we are offering over 25 courses and seminars.  In an effort to encourage our advanced level Associates to move closer toward designation, the 2011 Passport to Success includes coupons good for discounts against the cost of locally offered advanced level Appraisal Institute courses as well as the Comprehensive Exam Review Seminar.  Designated Member benefits include coupons good towards the Business Practices and Ethics and the Appraisal Curriculum Overview courses.

Continuing with a long standing Houston Chapter tradition, we are pleased to promote scholarships,

available to Associates in Good Standing, towards our locally offered courses and we continue to offer

college scholarships, available to our member’s children through our Joe Stanfield Higher Education Scholarship Fund.

We also have numerous social events planned for this year.  These include our annual Crawfish Boil, to be held at the Original Heights Fire Station (April 21st), and four Young Associate Happy Hour events.  We will be hosting our general business meeting luncheons at Maggiano’s Little Italy again this year with our inaugural 2011 meeting to be held February 15th.

If you have any desire to serve the Houston Chapter or Region VIII of the Appraisal Institute on a committee, or the Board, please let me or any other Board member know.  I thank you again for your endorsement and vote of confidence and look forward to serving as the 2011 President of the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Sincerely,

Kenneth B. Levenson, MAI

2011 Chapter President
